FCPS Marching Band Pit Crew Chili Cookoff Contest

The Frederick County Marching Band Festival is Mon. Oct. 10, 2016 at TJ High School and that means it's time for the Pit Crew "Chili" contest.

Many years ago several members of the FCPS marching band Pit Crews thought it would be fun and a great way to meet the other band's Pit Crews since this is the only time all of the county's marching bands are in the same location, at the same time.

It's meant to be fun and a social gathering for the Pit Crew members. Each Pit Crew brings 1 or more crock-pots full of chili to be sampled. When each Pit Crew has time they head over to the designated area and for $1 get to have some chili and/or for $1 you can get 10 votes. The winning Pit Crew gets the honor of the "Golden Ladle" until 2017. Last year, the Marching Titans Pit Crew a.k.a "The Muscle behind the music" won thanks to the efforts of Mr. Denny Wooley (Tara Wooley's dad & Pit Tech, Bill Smith's father-in-law).
