Fundraising is critical to the success of the THS Instrumental Music Program.  We strive to keep student fees affordable so that all students are able to participate in the instrumental music program of their choice.   Our fundraising program is designed around a core of fundraisers that bring in the majority of needed funds.  We offer a few smaller supplemental fundraisers to ensure that we meet the annual budget and cover any unanticipated needs.   The current fundraising schedule can be downloaded here.  Questions or comments related to fundraising can be directed to the THSIMB at thsimbinfo@gmail.com

SCRIP GIFT CARD SALES (Year round-SUPPORT THE NEW BAND UNIFORM LOAN)

ShopwithScrip - The NO SELLING Fundraiser. Through the Scrip program, participants simply buy store gift cards at face value for regular purchases such as groceries and gas or special purchases such as dinner out and a movie and the retailers donate a percentage of the sale to the back to our organization.   Great Lakes Scrip Center (GLSC) offers gift cards for over 300 of the most popular retailers nationwide, including gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, department stores, hotels, home improvement stores and movie theaters. Each retailer sets its own rebate percentage but on average THSIMB will earn a 5% rebate on all combined Scrip purchases. Scrip orders for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year will be placed on 1/2, 1/16, 1/30, 2/13, 2/27, 3/13, 3/27, 4/10, 4/24, 5/8, 5/22 and 6/5.

There are no minimum orders. There is no cost to enroll in the program. Car Wash (MAY-JULY @ PNC BANK-bALLENGER CREEK PIKE)

From May to July, a car wash is held one Saturday a month from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Our students and adult supervisors wash and dry cars in return for donations to THSIMB. We supply the soap, sponges, towels and elbow grease. This is a great way to promote teamwork and camaraderie among the students while offering a worthwhile service to the community. Linganore Winecellars (MAY-SEPT)

Linganore Winecellars is a family operated vineyard and winery in Mount Airy, MD.  Our group, and other non-profit groups and school volunteers, are given the opportunity to work at wine festivals held in May, June, July and October at the winery.  Students, parents and other adults raise funds for THSIMB by volunteering to park cars, pour wine, work at the admissions area, and check identification of patrons. B-I-N-G-O (FALL & SPRING)

Two bingo events are held during each school year – one in the fall and one in the spring.   Tickets can be bought in advance from any music student or purchased at the door on the day of the event.  We are always looking for families or businesses to sponsor a game!  Details will be available as we near the event.

TUSCARORA INDOOR INVITATIONAL (MARCH 2017)

In conjunction with the Keystone Indoor Drill Association (KIDA), an indoor percussion and color guard competition is held annually at our high school during late winter or early spring.  Hosting a competition provides a forum to showcase regional student talent and promote the principles of healthy and effective competition for student performers. HERSHEYPARK DISCOUNTED TICKETS (APRIL 2017)

We offer deeply discounted admission tickets for Hershey Park. Tickets are only for sale from early March through late April.   The tickets are valid for any day during the regular operating season.   Tickets are available to all family and friends of THSIMB.  For more information about HersheyPark, view their website at www.herhseypark.com.

MARCH-A-THON & GO FUND ME (YEAR ROUND-SUPPORT THE NEW BAND UNIFORM LOAN)

As is the case with most public schools across the country, Tuscarora High School does not receive funding from the Frederick County Public School for the purchase or maintenance of marching band uniforms. Therefore, it is the sole responsibility of the Tuscarora High School Instrumental Music Boosters, a not-for-profit 501c-3 organization led entirely by parent volunteers, to raise these funds. With a replacement cost of approximately $400 per uniform, outfitting the entire band with new uniforms cost approximately $40,000. The last time new uniforms were purchased as in 2003.
