Marching Titans

The Marching Titans compete in the Tournament of Bands circuit in the fall of each year. The typical competition season consists of at least four regional contests, followed by Chapter Championships and the Atlantic Coast Championships.

Over the past four years the Titans have finished first or second in 60% of their competitions.

2018 season- Amelia: the fateful flight

The Tuscarora Marching Titans are proud to present their 2018 program  "Amelia: The Fateful Flight”.  This years show tells story of the aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart and her daring attempt to circle the globe. The Marching Titans depict this bittersweet tale in three scenes:

2017 season- the story teller

The Tuscarora Marching Titans are proud to present their 15th Anniversary program  "The Story Teller".  This years show tell the tale of a journey at sea, through the lens of three popular stories:

STORY 1: Moby Dick: Of Sailors and Whales by Francis McBeth

STORY 2: The Odyssey: The Isle of Calypso by Robert W. Smith

STORY 3: One Thousand and One Nights: Scherherazade Op. 35 by Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov

As each storybook opens, join the Titan on their journey of seeking exploration, encountering danger, overcoming challenges and adversity, and experiencing great triumph.

2016 Season-Ludwig light vs.dark

The Tuscarora Marching Titans are proud to present their 2016 program Ludwig Light vs. Dark.  This year's show uses the music of the classic composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Bethoven's monumental symphonies showcase the duality of light vs. dark elements embedded within his compositional style, as well as provide a picture, tapping into the tumultuous nature of his own life.  We explore this life, the life of a spectacular mind, through the use of color, shape and mood found throughout the entire program.  This story begins with light and dark at war with each other.  By the show's end, we learn that light and dark are actually partners and that we cannot have one without the other.  The Titans scored their highest score ever at the ACC and finished 8th in Group 3 Open Class.

2015 Season- empire Rising

The Tuscarora Marching Titans are proud to present their 2015 program Empire Rising. This year's show theme centers around the construction of the Empire State Building from multiple perspectives.  Imagine yourself in downtown New York in the early 20th century.  The roaring twenties were coming to an end with little to be excited about but then the announcement of a great project, the Empire State building would change the sentiment of all .  From construction workers, to the people on the street, witnessing the building to its completion.  Come join us as we tell a true tale of ambition, struggle, transformation and triumph.

2014 season:

2013 Season - Argentina 1955: The Lost Art of Tango

This year’s show centers around the tango, Argentina’s national dance, and illustrates its history in the latter half of the 20th century through five scenes: The Tradition, The Revolution, The Underground, The Rebirth, and The Liberation.

The Tradition of the tango was fashionable and beloved by Argentinians until the Liberating Revolution in 1955 when a military coup overthrew President Peron. The Revolution sent the tango into The Underground with the closing of large dance venues and the banning of public gatherings for the tango by orders of the military dictatorship.  With the fall of the military junta in 1983 after the Falklands War, Argentinians experienced The Rebirth of the tango now vibrant with more creativity and flavor. Today, Argentina’s tango is the dance that reminds and celebrates The Liberation.

Join the Titans’ dance as they take you across time and culture to experience Argentinian history colored by melodic harmony, chaos, and triumph.

2012 Season - The New World

The 2012 show pays homage to the American travels of Czech composer Antonin Dvorak by imparting an "interpretation of an interpretation," utilizing his masterpieces Symphony No. 9 From The New World and String Quartet No. 12 American in three parts: Arrival, Perception, and Discovery.

The program launches into Dvorak’s Arrival in 1892 to New York as the new director of the National Conservatory of Music.  Fascinated by the sounds of Native American and African-American music, his Perception was that the incorporated combination of these traditions should be the foundation for the advancement of American music.  While vacationing in Iowa in 1893, he came to his own Discovery of how to resonate these styles together through his compositions still enjoyed today. 

Join the Titans on this journey of a traveler’s mind where the new beginning starts with non-traditional instruments, contemporary rhythm and harmony, and the classical roots where it all began.
